Hey! I’m Ashley.
I married Matt when I was 20 and still in college, and we’ve basically watched each other grow up. We have four kids, 8 and under, and love celebrating them whenever we can.
A lot of our married lives have been defined by transitions. We’ve moved houses and states. We’ve entered parenthood and pastoral ministry, he spent five years studying in seminary and then graduated, and now we’re temporarily in the suburbs of Chicago. We love our church, College Church in Wheaton, where we serve alongside each other when we can.
These days I find myself asking, “What has stayed the same?”
At the end of one of my favorite hymns, Louisa Stead writes:
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
This is the song I want to be singing at the end of my life, when I’ve grown old and seen it all. I long for a faith that has felt the push and pull of a fallen world yet still clings to her Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend.
Maybe you long for the same. Maybe you want to long for the same. If so, I’m glad you’re here.
